"Somersday" Spring Cleanup in 2002

Unfortunately, the undeveloped path route attracts trash and illegal dumping. On May 4, 2002 we took advantage of the City's annual "Somersday" cleanup to help clean up some of the mess. We obtained special permission from the MBTA and the City for the effort. The path route between Lowell & Cedar Street was cleaned, and we are very proud of improvement.

(1) Half the fun is all the little treasures you find: Raisin-man was our mascot, until someone tragically cleaned him up. (2) The Department of Public Works guys cringed when we brought these babies up. (3) Our volunteers (including a City Alderperson) hard at work. (4) There was lots of trash. (5) Oh yah, watch out for the active railroads!

Pictures from the Path in 2001

On Saturday, June 23rd, 2001 about 16 "friends of the community path" took a tour of the proposed Community Path. Beyond being fun and social, the tour proved to be very successful in terms of enhancing everyone's familiarity with the land involved and the physical (and political) challenges presented in putting the trail in place.
